Crockpot Chicken Recipe ~ Easy Cheesy Chicken

Here’s another crockpot chicken recipe for you. This one is really simple and easy. You can just stick everything in before you go to work or about your day and it will be ready and waiting when you are. If you enjoy a cheesy chicken this will be right up your alley.

Easy Cheesy Chicken

Serves 4

What you need:

4 Skinless boneless chicken breasts
salt and pepper ~ to taste
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 cans cream of cheddar cheese soup
8 oz sour cream

What you do:

Sprinkle the chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder.  Drop it in the crockpot. You can use frozen chicken if you want.

Pour the cans of soup over the chicken.

Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Add the sour cream just before serving.

Make it a meal:

If you are going with just protein and produce I’d say add some fresh steamed broccoli to this for a meal. It will be perfect to add the juice from the cooked chicken to the broccoli.  You can also add some rice or pasta, it will also be nicely topped with the sauce from the chicken.

What did we think:

Well. . . The original recipe called for cream of mushroom soup and some random amounts of each can. I followed the recipe and it just wasn’t cheesy enough for me, and I wasted a 3rd of each of the cans of soup. I would try it again and just follow the instructions I have here. I think the extra can of Cheddar soup would be much better. There was really no reason to have cream of mushroom soup in this recipe.  I think for a cheaper version you could certainly use chicken parts as well.

So this recipe did not go over real well in our house. It just wasn’t cheesy enough for us. I might try it again using more cheddar cheese soup instead. There’s no reason why you couldn’t add a little shredded cheddar when you add the sour cream. That would make it extra cheesy.

If you try it this way, let me know! I’d love to hear how it tasted.
